Cox will be back in a Hardin County courtroom on Friday for a preliminary hearing. His bond is set at $500,000.

When Cox dropped off Jayceon at his mother’s home in Radcliff, he was not breathing and he did not have a pulse.

“I think whatever punishment he get(s), he really deserve(s),” said Trimble.

“He was hitting hard, swinging hard and you know the car seat, he was literally hitting the baby in his head or in his chest or something,” said witness Dena Stevenson.

Witnesses said Cox assaulted the baby while driving on Dixie Highway on Thursday.

Chief Jeff Cross said Cox has not talked about a motive.

Jayceon Chrystie was taken off life support on Saturday, “And therefore the new charges of murder is a class A felony domestic,” said Judge Kimberly Shumate.

“Nobody know what his motives was,” said David Trimble, who is the grandfather to one of Cox’s three other children.

Court documents indicate that parts of his body had bruises and he had a swollen eye, cheek and head.

“When someone does this to a 4-month-old child, it makes you angry,” said Cross.

Daniel Cox did not say anything in court Monday after learning he is now charged with murder.

Investigators at the Radcliff Police Department are now try to figure out why he would beat his 4-month-old son to death.

“I think he has a temper, because me and him had words when I first met him right here in my driveway,” said Trimble.
